LESS IS MORE – GENERAL INFORMATION

For every 3,500 calories a person eats and does not burn off, a pound is gained. You can lose weight by burning more calories (exercise) or by consuming fewer calories. (Less is more.) It takes a good bit of exercise to work off a pound (jumping rope for seven hours), and many people prefer to eat less food to control then-weight.

My plan tricks a man into eating less food and renders us triumphant. Eve was on the right track when she reached for that apple if she wanted it for Adam's dinner.

A 1,000 calorie diet (the kind most women are forced to submit to) is pretty tight and requires extreme discipline; but a 2,000 calorie diet is not much of a hardship. If your man does not lose weight on 2,000 calories a day, you can cut him back by another 500 calories. Or, if he is really a nosher, you may want to reduce his calories gradually: Cut him back to 2,500 a day for a while and then cut back another 500 a few weeks later.

According to Dr. Alan R. Marston, you will lose weight automatically (and without exercise) at these caloric intakes:

Men 1,500 calories

Women weighing over 200 pounds 1,500 calories

Women weighing 130-200 pounds 1,200 calories

Women weighing 130 pounds 1,000 calories
